Reading the details; it states that it is an iPhone only and that the iPod Touch is not supported; however I thought that the iPhone and the iTouch ran on the same OS version.
Is there any reason for why it is not supported?
March 18th, 2010 at 1:41 PM
Andy, yes the iPhone and iPod Touch do run the same iPhone OS and the application should work fine. We were initially going to only support the iPhone at launch as we have not tested the Live Help iPhone App within an actual iPod Touch device.
It seems however that there was an error with the iTunes submission and that iTunes actually says the application is supported on the iPod Touch.

Excellent idea, purchased it and installed
Is there a way of marking yourself as away on the iPhone version ?

David, yes you can change your status to Away within the Chats section in the top right-hand corner.

Brilliant app guys and I would love to buy several copies of it for our business except for one huge issue. We run jailbroken phones stuck on OS 3.1.2. Surely the 3.1.3 upgrade only fixes minor issues and mainly stops jailbreaks? Is this something Apple have imposed upon you? Is there anyway you would consider selling this app directly to the customer or else putting it up on one of the other app stores such as Cydia or Rock? It would be such a useful tool for our business. Keep up the good work

James, we will be testing Live Help with the iPhone OS 3.1.2 in the future and if everything goes well then we will reduce the minimum requirements.

How is it that background alerts are not enabled here? This is probably one of the most key things.
I know this is possible to do, as there are apps out there (Trillian for example) that provide notifications when new messages come in.
This is crucial, as it’s not realistic to keep this app open in the foreground forever. Eventually, somewhere, the user is going to have to open up another application, and it would be best to put this in the background somehow while waiting for Live Help requests!

Tom, PUSH alerts are enabled and are working fine within our devices. Are you connected via. 3G or Wifi? There is known issues with PUSH alerts and Wifi connections within the current iPhone OS release. Please contact technical support via. email if you would like further details.

3G isn’t available in my local area, so when not @ home (wi-fi), it’s EDGE, which still does the same thing, no push notifications, no alerts, etc.

Brilliant App!!! Are you thinking in an Windows Mobile app?

Very good App for the iPhone. I use it every day.

Dennis, we won’t be developing for Windows Mobile 6.5 as the future of Windows Mobile is now the upcoming Windows Phone 7. We do have plans for developing a Windows Phone 7 Live Help application in the near future.
April 10th, 2010 at 10:25 PM
90% from Windows Mobiles will be under Windows Mobile 6.1 and Windows Mobile 6.5, read better and you will see the necessary hardware for Windows Mobile 7, and you will see for sure about many will remain at WM6.5 or WM6.1. To wait WM7 to release a application for Windows Mobile is just a illogic excuse.

Florin, unfortunately there is no upgrade compatibility between Windows Mobile 6.5 and Windows Phone 7 so we have decided to develop for the newer platform. We also have plans for a Google Android app in the future.

Fantastic app! A bit on the pricey side but worth it. I wish that it allowed us to initiate a chat when we see visitors instead of having to wait for them to initiate. Thank you for making this app available. It would be great if you could also develop a messenger system for the Mac. I don’t use Windows so my ability is limited to the web browser admin area, a real bummer.
April 25th, 2010 at 11:01 AM
The initiate chat feature is planned to be added to the Live Help iPhone app in a future update. We are also working on a Mac OS X desktop application, however I do not have any further details available at the moment.
