Live Help iPhone App Coming Soon – Server Software Update
In the past few months we have been developing a Live Help iPhone application to enable mobile device support. The Live Help iPhone application (v1.0) will allow you to view the currently browsing visitors on your web site, accept chat requests (iPhone 3.0 PUSH alerts supported), chat with visitors (using tagged responses during a chat session), view chat history and edit accounts while you are away from your desktop PC.
The iPhone application requires an iPhone (iPod Touch not supported) and the iPhone OS 3.0. Currently we are waiting for Apple to approve the application for sale within the iTunes App Store. The Live Help iPhone application will go on sale within the iPhone App Store at an introductory price of US$14.99 (approx. 11,99€, £8.99 and AU$17.99). Shown below are some screenshots of the upcoming iPhone release.

If you plan on purchasing the Live Help iPhone application then you will need to upgrade to v3.80 of the Live Help Server Software. The v3.80 Live Help Server Software will be required to login to the upcoming iPhone application. Below are instructions to upgrade your Live Help installation to v3.80. Note: You must be running at least v3.30 to use the upgrade option.
| Backup your current /livehelp directory | |
| Upload the v3.80 /livehelp directory excluding the /livehelp/include/database.php file | |
| Sign-in to the Live Help Messenger Windows application | |
| When you sign-in, an automatic transparent upgrade will occur | |
| Sign-out of the Live Help Messenger Windows application | |
| Delete the /livehelp/install/ directory | |
| Upgrade completed |
Feel free to email or chat via. Live Help if you have any trouble upgrading or re-installing the Live Help Server Software. Download access for the latest Live Help Server Software is available within the customer area.
Update: Apple has approved the application for sale within the App Store and you can now order the Live Help iPhone application at http://itunes.com/apps/livehelp/

How about an option to have push support only between staff. Sometimes I would like to send a message to my staff when there offline I think it would be nice to be able to use the push function. It will save me alot of money on texting fees.

Thank you for the suggestion Andy. We will consider this for a future update to the iPhone application.

Nice work on the app, looks very nice.
I have been looking forward to something like this for a long time. I would love to see Android support soon for this app as its the only OS I have and would love to use it.
Keep up the great work

I have to ask. Is this iPad compatiable? (as far as formating I know they have the auto fix but is it coded to work with it)
March 13th, 2010 at 11:12 AM
Anthony, we expect Apple to approve an make the application available within the iTunes App Store early next week.
In regards to iPad compatibility, the Live Help application has not been coded to specifically work with the new iPad form factor. We may include modifications to the user interface to suit the iPad within a future release.

Hello Very nice tool but what about Black Berry mobile phone ?

Are there any other changes except support of iPhone in 3.8.1? Should I upgrade from 3.7.1 if I don’t need iPhone support?
March 16th, 2010 at 12:47 PM
Val, the Live Help Server Software v3.80 Rev. 1 only adds iPhone support. You don’t need to upgrade if you are not planning on using the iPhone application. We still recommend that you always use the latest Live Help release.

I have upgraded my server software to 3.80 and I have just purchased the iPhone app but unfortunately, it’s not working. When I try and login from my iPhone I get username/password error. Any ideas?

I’ll be getting an iPad soon, so like Andy, was also wondering if there will be an iPad version. From what I understand, since you already have an iPhone version, it shouldn’t be too difficult to modify it for the iPad. Thanks for making these options available. It really enhances the product.

Sorry I don’t have any details regarding an iPad version. We have quite a few other projects that are being worked on before iPad support.
